I’m at ThrillWriting, Chatting About My Time Inside an Oil Drum
I’m over at ThrillWriting.blogspot.com today, talking about my time spent inside an oil drum. During my edits of CLEAVED, I noticed I had no real life experience to draw from in order to instill the correct emotional response in my reader, so I climbed inside an oil drum to experience it first-hand. If you haven’t read MARRED, now’s your chance to grab the Kindle version for 99c before the sequel, CLEAVED, goes up for pre-release, and you can see how I used my research.
A taste of my chat with Fiona is below. Incidentally, not only is Fiona Quinn a talented author but her site has a wealth of information. Highly recommend her books and blog.
Oh, the Places We Will Go! Info. for Writers with Sue Coletta
Our guest is Sue Coletta – I love keeping up with Sue on Facebook because she’s a writer after my own heart – unless you experience it, it’s hard to write it right.
The other day on Facebook, I read one of Sue’s posts to my husband because he could so identify with Sue’s hubby. Can you tell the story about the chair for us ThrillWriters?
Sue –
My husband and I had just watched a movie. He got up to brush his teeth and came back into the living room to find me curled in a ball on the seat of the recliner. He asked, “What are you doing?”
I said, “Do you think I could fit inside a suitcase?”
His response was, “Dead or alive?”

At any point, did you think to yourself “maybe I’ll just have her trapped in a bigger container that will be more comfortable to research?”
Sue Coletta
LOL Honestly, no. I’d have to rewrite the entire book. A little uncomfortableness was necessary. #writerslife
